First Time Moms: Covid Era

If you became a first time mom during Covid like I did, you hold a special place in my heart.

We got the news that I was pregnant right at the height of the turmoil that was breakout out in our nation. The message of the importance of self care was coming through, and the silver lining of returning to our homes and making family a priority, however I've noticed a unique amount of concern as a mom of a 2 year old in 2023 and I don't think it's a coincidence.

The "need" to control is REAL

Can I just say if you feel like you need to look behind every curtain, every door, and you feel like your paranoia is at an all time high, you are certainly not alone. With the amount of frightening news and access to media, as thankful as I am for exposure … your feelings only validate the care and concern you have for your precious little one. I have found that awareness of what I am experiencing was a first step to getting clarity and talking it through with a trusted professional, friends, and other moms was a big part.

Fear Is NOT Your Future

ree

I don't believe any mom wants fear to be the defining, driving factor for her parenting and maybe it's felt a little bit like you didn't have a choice. I get it, the world looks like a very scary place right now mama, and often times fear can sound like the voice of reason. With all the compassion and empathy I can muster, can I encourage you to take a step back and really evaluate that voice? Who is calling the shots, the climate today, or your faith? Jesus assures us that in this world we will face trouble, but to not fear because He has overcome the world.

And the very same hands that carved out the mountains and split the seas placed your children by your side and goes before them.

"Do not fear; only believe" Mark 5:36
